Chess Studio on the Hill - Spring Syllabus

Below is the working syllabus for the spring trimester of Chess Studio on the Hill. This is the scheduled program of events; however, changes may be made at the discretion of Chess Corps for enrichment purposes. Changes will be posted on this page and may be made without advanced notice.

NB: Students may enroll in the 2006- 2007 season of Chess Studio on the Hill anytime between October 22, 2006 and March 25, 2007.

April 1

Travel Club:

Chess Corps and the Newton Historical Society invite you to a special program on International and Chinese Chess at the Newton History Museum!

Learn the history and basics of Chinese Chess from Johnson Wai and learn International Chess strategy from Chess Corps faculty, led by International Master Satea Husari!

While at the museum, enjoy classical chamber music performed by an ensemble of musicians from Newton High School, and afternoon refreshments courtesy of Chess Corps.

This event, which runs from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm, is free and open to the public. Players of all ages, abilities, and skill levels welcome!

The Newton History Museum at the Jackson Homestead is located at 527 Washington St., Newton, MA.

Please note that Chess Studio will not meet at Hebrew College on April 1.

April 8

Travel Club:

On April 7 and 8, Chess Corps faculty member, IM Satea Husari, will attend the 8th Annual Foxwoods Open at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino!

Any interested Chess Studio on the Hill members along with their family and friends are invited to join Mr. Husari at the Foxwoods Open! We hope to see you there!

** At each session from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM, Chess Corps faculty and volunteers will offer “Chess Basics” during which they will teach the rules of chess at the beginner level to any interested family members, friends, or visitors. This service is free and you do not need to be a Chess Corps member to participate.

Refreshments will be offered midway through each session.
